Hi All,
My wife had surgery before 3 months for fibrous dyplasia (benign
tumor). The tumor was on hip area. Doctor successfully removed the
tumor & put some screw to support the hip & filled the bone cavity with
some synthetic bone grafting material called alpha TCP material. But
still she is having pain. According to doctor the bone is very weak &
not healing with that grafting material. Doctor is suggesting to re-do
the surgery & change the grafting material with her own bone from some
other part of body.
Do we have any other alternative than re-surgery? What are the chances
that after re-surgery the bone will heal properly? Any suggestion would
really helpful

Thanks,
Vin

vin,
where exactly is your wife's tumor located? is it in the femoral or
pelvic part of the hip? the graft not incorporating and the bone is
weak, it is possible that she has develop a fracture if she's having
pain and is bearing weight on the envolve extremity, . if in doubt, get
a second opinion before having resurgery .
